Abstract

Background: Hemoglobin is a vital protein that plays an important role in delivering oxygen and removing carbon dioxide. Its presence in red blood cells makes it an important element in the respiratory process and the body's survival. Hemoglobin level examination using EDTA blood should be done as soon as possible, ideally within 2 hours after blood collection. This is to ensure accurate and reliable results. Storing EDTA blood at room temperature for too long can have serious consequences, especially in red blood cells (erythrocytes) such as rupture of the plasma membrane (hemolysis) which causes a decrease in hemoglobin levels.

Objective: This study aims to determine the "description of hemoglobin levels in anemia patients at H. Andi Sulthan Daeng Radja Bulukumba Hospital based on immediate storage time, 30 minutes and 60 minutes. Method: This type of research is a descriptive laboratory observation, with a sample size of 10 samples with a purposive sampling technique, carried out using the hematology analyzer method, and the results of data analysis are presented in the form of a distribution table and narrated.

Research Results: The results showed that there was a slight variation in hemoglobin levels at each examination time, with some samples showing an increase and some others showing a decrease. So to determine the description, first assess its normality, Where the normality of the data obtained by reading the Shapiro Wilk test of normality obtained the zymma value of the immediate results = 0.986, the 30- minute results = 0.983, and the 60-minute results = 0.969. This value is greater than the p value of 0.05 so it is concluded that the data distribution is normal. Where the difference in hemoglobin levels obtained is not significant.

Conclusion: Hemoglobin levels in the blood do not change significantly for 1 hour after blood collection. This shows that blood samples can be stored for up to 60 minutes before being analyzed without affecting the

results of the hemoglobin level examination using a hematology analyzer.
